In these drawings I drew a sphere and a pyramid at different angles. I did this because when the ball and pyramid were put in different places and angles, the shading and shadows changed, which helped me practice shading and value. It also allowed me to practice shading on both flat and round surfaces.
Required Questions1. First, you need to get a general description of the art piece and understand what the piece is. Then, Analyse the things on the piece like the colors and textures. Then, try to interpret and understand what the art piece means. Once you do everything, make your judgement on if the piece is successful or not and if it can be improved. 2. I am critiquing my Multi-Media project I did earlier in the semester. First, I see that the piece has cutouts on the corners and the background has multiple colors ans there are lines and beads. I think the calm colors and the use of cutouts of things the artist likes represents being understood. Also the straight lines on string and beads also support the theme of being understood. I think it can be improved by coloring the cutouts with marker instead of colored pencil so it can stand out more instead of look like an after thought, as it is an important part of the piece that viewers might miss. 3 Picked Questions6. Artists can face many different problems during all the stages of making art. An example is maybe the planning was done wrong and there is an error in the art piece once the piece is made. Problems could also happen during the making of the piece, like rushing it and making errors in the piece, or just messing up while making it. Even when sharing the artwork, you may mess up in explaining your piece. My example is when I rushed my acrylic painting and some parts were not painted as much as they should have, making it look sloppy. 9. Yes, I believe that the Illustration Fridays helped me with my projects and my skill levels. I used different techniques for my Illustration Fridays, like using shading and value. I also used the opportunity to try different art styles. It also helped my skills by making me draw things that I usually wouldn't, and make me learn to draw new things. My example of how they helped is this Illustration Friday that I did on the word "Flying" that I made a plane with crash dummy decals that are highlighted with colored pencils, a type of art I had never done before. 19. These two photos show how I improved on my shoe concept from a doodle on a sheet of scrap paper to a rendered concept drawing. I first drew the shoe concept, then I practiced using the computer to make shoes, and then a few months later I decided to use the drawing as a reference to make the rendered concept on the computer. I thought that it was cool to see a sketch of a shoe be turned into something that looks like an official product.
I made this piece by first cutting out the strips of paper, and cutting and folding them to make the letters in my name. I arranged them to make my name, then drew the outline of the paper on. After that I added the shading.
1. I used an assortment of paper mache colors to make the base layer, and made sure it was wrinkled to give it more texture. Next, i used masking tape and painted a blue line through the middle. I took the masking tape off, and added strait strings. I then added colored cut outs of paper, and then the beads.
2. My word was understood and my topic was 3 things that represent me. I used colors that were related to the concept of being understood, like blue stands for security and green stands for optimism. I also made the string straight and the beads in a clear pattern to also represent being understood, as they are simple overlays. I added 3 things that represent me by using colored in cutouts. The thai by thai one is because it is my favorite restaurant, the China one is because that is the country my parents are from, and I put my phone because I use it a ,ot and it helps me.
1. I used 3 point perspective in my watercolor painting
2. My mom took this photo in the Pu-Dong area in Shanghai in between the 3 tallest buildings before we went on a tour to the top of the Shanghai Tower last summer. 3. I added too much water onto the paper at first and caused the paper to start getting rough and peeling off. I had to use less water and start over when the background I started started peeling on the first one. 4. The brush control warm up helped me paint the details on my piece, like the lines on the buildings. The sunset warm up also helped a lot, because doing the sunset gradient helped me do the sky and the shading of the buildings. |
